Im interested in a Two family detached building with a ILLEGAL 1 br apartment downstairs…How does the bank look on this? I know they do not even consider the income but can it stop us from getting a mortgage on the property?

My fiance and I are trying to buy our first house but our bank won’t give us a mortgage because I have a bankruptcy on my credit from 2 1/2 years ago and they say it needs to be 4 years old first. I’m wondering if there is any other company out there that will give a mortgage any sooner. Most places give you anything after bankruptcy because they know you can’t claim bankruptcy again for 7 years. Please help!

My mortgage broker got a good rate from a mortgage company, but I think that getting a mortgage from a bank is safer. If I go with them, I’d like to be sure that they are ok. Are there resources for finding reviews or opinions about mortgage companies?
My question is geared more towards the actual company lending me money versus the broker. I trust the broker, but I would like some additional edification. The Mortgage lender in question is Provident Funding.

I am the managing member of a Holding LLC (Real estate investment). I am wondering is it possible to mortgage residential property under business name and be utilized for the sole purpose of leasing the properties out?

If something should happen to me I want him to be able to stay in the home and continue making the mortgage payments. He has been living in the home for the past 3 years and making the payments. I was told I can only make him executor of my estate, but that doesn’t do what I want.

My mom is thinking of doing a reverse mortgage in two years when she turns 62. The house has a tax lien. How would this affect getting the reverse mortgage, if it affects it at all? thanks

I unfortunately am going to have to move out of state. I bought my house in 2008 and with the short time I have been here plus the downturn I would not be able to sell this house outright. My mortgage is eligible for assumption but Chase was not very clear on how to do it. Is there a closing, what are closing costs like? I know they have to qualify for the mortgage, but I just am not to clear on the whole process.

1) Does mortgage broker have to get my signature when they lock the rate ?
2)Do I get any paper or document as a proof that the mortgage/broker or lender has locked a rate for me what he has promised ?
